Public Notice to Estates on Illegal Digging

Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (“LASIMRA”) is the body tasked with ensuring that companies who deploy utility infrastructure located in the State operate in accordance with all relevant laws and regulations, particularly as it pertains to the health, safety and well-being of the residents of the State.

The Agency is dismayed to note that we have received several reports from Residents Associations and other concerned citizens of indiscriminate digging by companies who have been laying fibre duct and cable infrastructure in hazardous circumstances, without carrying out proper reinstatement works and thereby causing damage to roads, walkways and even private property. It has been discovered that the majority of the companies carrying out such works without following the proper procedure are working without permits from LASIMRA, and are therefore contravening the laws of Lagos State.

Therefore all Residents Associations and other concerned residents should please note that

  1. Any company that enters your street or estate to lay fibre optic cables must be able to produce a permit from LASIMRA listing that location.
  2. If they are unable to provide a permit from LASIMRA on demand, they are not permitted by the Lagos State Government to carry out the work.
  3. To report any unpermitted works on your street or estate, or to verify that a particular company has obtained a permit for your area, please contact LASIMRA by telephone on 0800 LASIMRA (0800 527 4672), by email on info@lasimra.gov.ng or at 2 Yusuf Close, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.
  4. We can also be reached on the following social media platforms:

Together we can ensure that unauthorized digging and damage to our streets and estates is a thing of the past.
